March 8, 20251 yr Popular Post I gave a quick shop tips presentation this morning on how to layout arcs for cutting. Which method you choose can depend on how exact you need it to be and in some cases the overall size. A compass works well for smaller arcs, but if you are doing an arced soffit on a front porch, top of a 10' fence, or top rail on a king sized bed, methods 5 and 6 work well without needing (or having the space for) a 20 or 30 foot compass or trammel points. I would not trust method one if you need an exact circle like for a rocker or cradle, or have something that needs to rotate inside the circle, If you have any questions, just ask.
