January 30, 20251 yr Popular Post Many years ago, one of my first woodworking projects was to make a set of coasters. I found some nice tiles to inlay. A few years ago, I made some for my children and the best I could find was solid colors. I went looking yesterday for some that were decorated more than just a solid color. A huge store had three times with lines, and only one type in stock. Anyone know where I might find something decorative like my early ones? Amazon has some "Mexican" ones that are way too elaborate.
January 30, 20251 yr Popular Post The new ones sure don't compare to the older ones. Did you try some on line searches?
January 30, 20251 yr I searched flower pattern ceramic tiles 4"X4" under images and a lot came up. Looked at first page and none had the earth tones yours have but there was a few nice ones.
January 31, 20251 yr Popular Post Might peruse your local Habitat for Humanity Restores. Also any Goodwill or other Thrift Stores. I've seen small quantities of various styles from time to time.

I'll be by a Goodwill this afternoon, and I was at a Habitat for Humanity store last week.
January 31, 20251 yr Geez, that brings back memories! For the first few years we were married, I was often laid off from my job at the bumper plant, and had to come up with money for food and rent. One day I was in a local building center when they were renewing their entire tile display. The old ones, pulled off their cardboard displays, were going for 5 to 10 cents apiece. Many different styles, floral, scenic, patterns, even sets of up to six in varying colours. I bought most of them! The small (3 1/2") got lead caming around them and cork undersides, and Larger ones got wood frames with cork feet. They were good sellers, and helped us make ends meet. I still have a box or two of those tiles, as well as some from other displays. If only you were closer, Keith.
