    If I seal the wood before applying it would go on smoother…

     

    I thought  it would be more personal to add a design.

     

    I better retract that last sentence as it might strike a nerve with the wrong woodworker..

    It could be your maker mark.  I have not used this method but if you seal it first, will it be absorbed into the wood? Just a thought.
