100 + year old Oak bark

I haven’t been doing much wood working, life got in the way. My wife, dog and I do a lot of walking and Colorado is one beautiful place to do it. We was walking along an old early 1800s canal that was constructed by hand, horse and shovel, to bring water. They also planted Oak trees to help keep the canal strong.  My wife saw a piece of Oak bark laying on a park bench.  I was thinking, can I turn that?  The picture snows what I did with it. I made a Christmas tree ornament.  It is not finished, just a few things to do. I left some of the bark on it for amusement and I may finish it before Christmas. What you see is the before and after. The before is about inch and half to 2 inches thick.

Merry Christmas

Ya, I really like that, way to go Ron. It really turned out to be a very unique thing. Love it!

That is awesome Ron. You always see some amazing things with what others might discard. Glad you're getting some shop time in. Thanks for sharing.

Never would have thought bark could do that . If anyone can you can. A club member made one from a sawbrier root.
