December 7, 20241 yr Popular Post One of those priceless gifts left behind by my grandfather Wallace Kunkel – not a piece of machinery or anything I can hold in my hands – but this video he produced in the mid-80’s, alongside his sons, on the setting up of a home workshop — A whole array of vintage machinery featured throughout – heavy on Powermatic. I’ve watched this countless times at this point — while restoring it from how I found it, in a storage box and unseen for decades — and I still find myself putting it on when I’m alone in my own workshop – forever a work in progress – enjoying his company, and somehow always taking away something new I’d missed each time before. I can’t help but think if YouTube was around during his time here, he’d have taken to it like a natural, and what a channel it would be. – David One more note I'd included over on YouTube: "To answer the one question that comes up more than any – whether this "entire series" will ever be on YouTube – well, no, but for good reason. This was the first and only video in the series to be made. It was intended to be a whole library/series, as mentioned in the video, but for various reasons, that didn't come to be. Here is an advertisement from about the same time, published in Fine Woodworking and other publications, that at least will give you a bit of insight into "the plan" for the series, etc."
December 11, 20241 yr Loved it. Thanks David for the post and taking the time to keep this classic video going. Your grandfather was a trailblazer with a vision. I suspect he would be amazed how far the craft has come with the technology of today.
