Got some King Color Core just to try it.  It's HDPE sandwiched between different colored outer layers.  Comes in a half dozen or so different color combinations.  Doen't need any finishing and is safe for the outdoors.  Comes in 1/4, 1/2, and 3/4 thicknesses.  Cuts great.  I put a few next to the same items cut in wood - people seemed to prefer the wood.  These were for my personal use so i didn't violate any trademark rules.

Looks good John.  Did you find it locally or buy it online?

I ordered it online, but most large plastic supply places can get it or handle it.  It's more expensive than wood, but there's no waste and when wood finishing time and supplies are factored in, I would say it's comparable.  It is rather heavy so shipping has to taken into consideration when ordering.

Those look awesome! I have been wanting to try that. What bits did you use? EM or 0 flute?
