November 24, 20241 yr The latest thing I'm seeing, from Rockler, Milescraft, and I think Woodpeckers and probably Chinese knockoffs are drill guides. On the surface they seem useful. But I got an early version many years ago when I was starting out. I still have it but can't remember the last time I actually used it.
November 24, 20241 yr I've got a General Tools version of the Milescraft I bought over 10 years ago at the Wwing Show in Indy. Same features. There was a tool "close out" distributor booth there. I've used it maybe one time since. Many years prior to that I'd bought the original fixed base version (don't even remember the name now) at a flea market for a couple bucks. I probably haven't used it half dozen times but I do know where it's at. Edited November 24, 20241 yr by Grandpadave52
November 24, 20241 yr I have two, one fixed at a right angle and the other adjustable angle. I have used them a few times and was glad I had them. I have had a few ideas to use them with jigs on the lathe but have never gotten around to trying those said ideas. They were bought used for minimal dollars so no great investment sitting there like some other tools I bought and never used much. The Porter Cable dovetail jig comes to mind.
November 24, 20241 yr Got something like that many years ago. Used it once or twice, bought a drill press, and haven't used it since. 3 hours ago, Grandpadave52 said: I probably haven't used it half dozen times but I do know where it's at. Hey, me too!
