Headhunter Posted November 19, 2024 Report Posted November 19, 2024 I'm back to those non-domesticated bunnies AGAIN! Just some proof-of-concept samples for an idea I had. Made with poplar to save the good stuff. The one on the left is a standard step bowl made with double width rings. The tall center one has a mix of double width and single width rings. This gives the step look on the outside with a smooth inside. The one on the right is just a single width ring bowl with the leftover rings from the center bowl attached to the outside. (No sense wasting pieces and arts. ) Now that I know this idea will work, I'll try some later with good wood. HandyDan, lew, Al B and 1 other 4 Quote

Grandpadave52 Posted November 19, 2024 Report Posted November 19, 2024 Those are cool Tony. The poplar actually looks pretty good. Nice grain and contrast. What finish did you use? Headhunter and Al B 1 1 Quote
Headhunter Posted November 20, 2024 Author Report Posted November 20, 2024 Dave, It's my standard finish. One coat of Zinsser Bullseye sanding sealer and three coats of satin finish water-based poly. It lets the wood grain show off rather than focusing on the finish coats. lew and Grandpadave52 2 Quote
