November 19, 20241 yr Popular Post comment_346532 I have been creating sawdust off and on for better than 50 years. Initially I mostly "white caned" my way through from books, magazines and the tv shows I could find. Without realizing it I got into a mode of challenging myself to learn something new every day. Today was one of those days when I learned about the Square of Thales and this youtube guy Steve Maskery . Some of you may know of this method but new to me ....... calabrese55 Report
November 19, 20241 yr comment_346533 I have 2 of those I made some years ago after reading the tip somewhere in a magazine. One os considerably larger than the other and they are most useful when clamps are in the way across the corners. Report
November 19, 20241 yr comment_346559 I just saw this the past weekend. At first I was skeptical that it would work, but then I saw him work thru the math and said, oh yeah. Right now, i rarely make anything big enough that small square doesn't work Report

April 19Apr 19 comment_374927 Well, as "The YouTube Guy" in question :), I can say that this is a very useful tool in many scenarios when a trad try square is not big enough (such as laying out the footprint of a new workshop).I didn't invent the tool, but I did invent its name, the Square of Thales.Thank you very much indeed for crediting me with the original video, most others don't.Regards from FranceSteve Maskery Report
