The carving is about to proceed. I've done the minor carving to the back of the plaque and am now ready to start on the front. I've got to say that this bass wood is some of the best that I've ever had since Lew gave me some. We'll see about the ease of carving!!

Sorry I don’t have any more :(  if I run across some again I will be sure to get it to you.

I'm back after 3 weeks in Europe and a week of catch-ups with the house/yard work. The snow today made for the perfect time in the shop.

Lew, I set the furnace to about 50 ℉, wear a good down vest, and try to keep moving. I prefer to work on the "cooler" side anyway!

Nice to have you back Rick. Hope the trip was enjoyable, relaxing, and fun.

Good to see you picked right up where you left off. Looking forward to following the progression.

Time to add some feathers. I'll practice this on a scrap of wood first to get the feather layout correct!

This bird is about ready to fly. I just have to complete the  3 "rounds", do some touch-up carving, and then a light sanding to knock down the sharp edges.L1090997.JPG.981821a4241355202f2c9c883c0febcb.JPG
