Guitar Maker Mass Production

Hi Guys and Gals,

After watching several guitar making videos of individual craftspeople doing the minute work of creating a custom guitar, I came across this video, showing guitars being mass produced at a factory in Korea. They do all the same steps, making several guitars at a  time and using specialized equipment that allows them to move fast. It almost looks like they make a guitar in an hour, though I'm sure its longer, but compared to hundreds of hours for the individual makers. I don't know how the sound would compare with the custom guitars, and would like to know what the bespoke makers have to say about this. Here's the link, it's fascinating:

Thanks Dan for sharing. Interesting.

I'm no guitarologist:P but played some many years ago. Being mass produced, I suspect the sound quality is good but not great. Very likely they all sound pretty much the same. No doubt good entry level acoustics to learn with but no where near the old Gibsons, coveted Martins, Fenders and others for both overall quality and sound. My $.02 which Includes tax and tip.

Wow, a whole factory of jigs.  I'd love to have the maintenance contract on the machinery.

Hi Grandpa,

I found this excellent video, comparing guitars from $200 to $200,000. It answers questions about what makes a great guitar.

Thanks Dan. I'll give it a look tomorrow.
