Veteran Shopping Benefit

Featured Replies

Some Veterans may not know that all honorably discharged veterans have an online (and possibly instore) shopping benefit. Veterans of any branch of the service can shop, tax free, on the AAFES WEB site https://www.shopmyexchange.com/ .

To create an account go to https://www.shopmyexchange.com/ and click on "My Account" then "Create New Account" as seen in the image below.

You will be taken to a "Create Account" screen where you can "Check eligibility" as seen in the image below.

If you have trouble getting verified there you can go to https://www.vetverify.org/ or call Vet Verify at 1-844-868-8672.

On January 1, 2020 the Department of Defense expanded in-store military exchange and commissary shopping privileges as well as MWR resale facility use to:

All Veterans with service-connected disabilities

Purple Heart recipients

Former prisoners of war

Caregivers or family caregivers registered as the primary caregiver for a veteran in the Department of Veterans Affairs Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers

With Christmas just around the corner I though this information might benefit some of our veterans.

I didn't know Bubba! Thank you!

You're welcome John. I figured there were still a lot of veterans that didn't know about this benefit.

I just signed in without issues. Standard service, honorable discharge, not disabled, nothing special about my service at all, and I qualified! Thanks again Bubba.

When I signed up in 1987 I was promised VA Health Care for life after service, well we all know how that ended up! Based on income I won't ever qualify now. But at least I can still access the Exchange! Thanks to Bubba!
