A simple project for the kids

next tuesday i'll be hosting 4 kids and 2 moms in my shop for a simple "make and take" project.  after some thinking, i settled on a kleenex box cover.

easy to make, we'll paint them, so no long drying times with stain and poly, and each one can be individualized by the kid.  will have 14 paint colors available.  glues and nails together pretty quickly, then decide on a hole size/shape for the tissues, attach the top, and paint away!

made a prototype this morning, including my untrained painting.

so i was surfing and found a website for "make and take" type instruction.  you travel to the place (Maine), pay the tuition (995/week; 1900 for 2 week courses), and the experts will guide you thru making a project.

that's pretty good money for hosting strangers in your shop.

AWESOME DAB! Blessings to you for giving your time and talents. Should be a fun day. BTW, not too shabby on your painting creativity either.

Looking forward to seeing pictures of everyone's proiects.

4 kids, 2 moms, i survived.

they all just left a bit ago, everyone took home their box cover, with their own unique paint jobs and a fresh box of kleenex.  some got done way early, some painted until they were told the mom bus was leaving, so hurry up!!

learned a little about how much glue is enough, about hammering finish nails and sinking them with nail sets (watch your fingers!), and about painting.  a good time had by all i think, i was too busy supervising to get pics (besides, don't post pics of strangers without their permission).

Glad the day went well for everyone.

Sounds like a good/great day Dab
