The Everything Cabinet

Featured Replies

Hello Friends,

I've been working on this Sketchup model for quite a while. I'm not sure that it's perfect, but good enough to get across my ideas. The idea is that this could fit against the wall of a small apartment and handle a lot of stuff in an efficient way. I also wanted to make it fun, so created the curved walls and shelfs and putting in some fun decorations like the train and the rubber ducky. The white drawers could hold some clothes. See the "office" area with computer, printer and a small pull-out shelf for a coffee cup. I wanted a whole bunch of different spaces and doors and just a fun piece of furniture. It's along the line of "Lisa's Toy Cabinet." All 3/4" plywood painted white. This is one that I could actually build. Hope you like it! Dan

Looks a lot like my computer desk! And my workshop, for that matter!

I like useful.   If the cabinet was designed for the stuff you already own I like it even more.  Knowing how many time's I've moved though I'd make it in three parts so they could be reconfigured for new spaces that may not have the same dimensions.  I also love the whimsy of all the front edges.  Removes the boredom of big cabinets with no interesting details to appreciate.  Lastly I'd drop an LED strip light behind the train on top to throw some ambient light off the back wall and ceiling above.
