Fred W. Hargis Jr Posted August 8, 2024 Report Posted August 8, 2024 I'm making a coffee table for my grandson and it's sort of a Mission style and he wants a mission finish. This is QSWO and I usually fill the grain on the table top and try to get a glass smooth finish. My goto grain filler in the past has been Behlen's Pore 'O Pac solvent based, and my leftover stock is hard as a rock. So I try to buy another can only to find it's not available anywhere I normally buy from. My guess is the CARB laws or the Fed EPA has runn this one off the market, Behlen's still offers the water based stuff. I won't use that but I did find a Mohawk product that may fill the bill. I try to be as green as anybody, but such things like this are just aggravating. It's also possible it wasn't popular enough to keep on the market; or any of a thousand other reasons I can't find it.....none of which make it less aggravating. Popular Post JWD Posted August 8, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted August 8, 2024 Sometimes you need the nasty stuff to get results. I was browsing my local Ace hardware a few months ago and saw that they had gallon cans of tolulene. Bought a gallon just because such solvents can come in handy, and I hadn't seen it for sale retail before. Cal, HARO50, Grandpadave52 and 2 others 3 2 Quote
