August 8, 20241 yr Popular Post Down to the Dayton, OH area to a friend's house...and pick up 3 tools that I had him nickel plate.. Look almost brand new..and not 100 years old? Top to bottom: Stanley No. 18 Bevel gauge......Goodell Pratt Co. No. 6008 Brace (1920 model) and a Sargent's Patent Bevel gauge, from the 1890s? He has a set up in his Garage to where he can nickel plate about any tool that can fight in a 5 gal. bucket... So..seems to have been worth the trip?
August 8, 20241 yr Author Popular Post Wrist handle was already split...seems at some point in the last 104 years,,,that brace had been in a fire...he finished the split, then after the plating was done...He re-glued the Wrist handle back together... Apparently, the cleaner he uses before the plating, removed every bit of oil and grease inside...so he had to replace that, too..
