July 29, 20241 yr An interesting article https://paulsellers.com/2024/07/humidity-issues/?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=weekly On some of the FB woodworking forums, there are regularly beginners doing solid wood inside a mitered frame, etc. Wood expands and contracts, you cannot control it, you must allow for it. Those that don't live in its peril.
July 30, 20241 yr So a wood table top with a mitered frame How do you design this for expansion and contraction. The long edges are parallel to the miter banding. The short edges are perpendicular. i have no way to maintain the mitered corner in a slip fit configuration. That is why in commercial projects and all but first timers should never miter wrap a table top.

Otherwise, properly done breadboard ends. I've ween lots of Asian furniture with complete disregard (or ignorance) of wood movement between their humid semi-outdoor shops to air conditioned homes.
