What is NOT on my lathe.......Taking a break from the stuff that spins

Years ago I built some jewelry boxes and humidors. Taking a break from bowls I started this a couple of weeks ago but dragging along thanks to the heat here in central NY . Looking at another 3 -5 days in the lower 90's but hey it is better than snow. The box here is tiger maple and when finished will be lined with plush velvet. My favorite velvet is Fidelio it is pretty hard to find these days but i have some in stock. Anyway hopefully I will not screw this up. I always seem to do that rounding third and heading for home :BangingHead:

Wonderful design, I like it a lot!  I can't wait to see it finished, boxes are a ton of fun to build and very satisfying to complete.

I just returned from a week in the Boston area, where it was hot and humid.  I was very relieved to walk out of the El Paso terminal and into our dry heat!  I feel for you man, but as you say, it's better than snow :D

Great looking piece . Really like the flowing design.

Slow getting here. Heat, humidity, and dewpoints are brutal now in Indiana but you're correct...better than running the snowblower.

Excellent design and work Mike. Looking forward to seeing it with the finish both outside and in.

Thanks Dave for looking in. The heat here sure has slowed me down and shortened my patience which was certainly not my strong suit to begin with. I spent all day yesterday just fitting those miserable little hinges. Mounting those sure was a challenge. The tiny screws SUCK and can't be used. They simply can not be flush mounted to the hinge leaf and look like crap !!!!. I played Black Sabbath on 78 speed backwards and came up with a bamboo dowel and cover plate fix that I think will work and look way better. Pictures coming soon.
