I'll be in IN on Tuesday if that helps any? Edited July 12, 20242 yr by Grandpadave52
July 13, 20242 yr I'm gonna guess it's a laser attachment for your CNC. That or a good dust collector system. Or maybe since you said "toy" it'll be a new motorcycle to play with. 4D
July 14, 20242 yr Kev doesn't look like the motorcycle type. I'd bet on the laser attachment. Edited July 14, 20242 yr by honesttjohn

Ok…I ordered one of Xtools F1 Ultras.

July 14, 20242 yr My toy was a Suzuki Burgman Executive 650. Not quite a Goldwing, but could make highway trips pretty comfortably. Traded it for a little off the price of my Chevy Bolt EV. Now my motorcycle is an Osa Plus EV from a company now out of business. Made a cargo box to mount on the back of it and use it occasionally for picking up pizza or groceries or other errands around town. Silent. Quick. Fun. 4D

July 28, 20241 yr Author Well the Ultra came in last week, but I got caught up in the crowd strike debacle. Long story short finally got it unpacked and set up. I got to play with for a couple of hours. Still dialing in settings and getting to know XCS software. I am enjoying having the camera. Helps a lot. The only ‘downfall’ is I engraved a wooden spoon and the wife really liked it…lol So much so that next week is the neighborhood garage sale and we ‘had’ to go buy some more to sell at the sale.
July 28, 20241 yr Burn baby burn! Looks like you're set for the future now Kev! Trying to imagine what the next add-on for a CNC would be and a drag knife or a pen attachment or both should open up more creative options. Both should be far less expensive than the laser. 4D
July 28, 20241 yr Author I’ve looked at those attachments but not sure how that would fit into my work flow.

It is the unexpected tools that often open up creative play flow which often evolve into profitable work flow. One of the projects the large vacuum bed CNC we had in our fab lab got paid to do was cut out large vinyl letters for the city mall's seasonal Christmas display. That one project more than paid for the drag knife and blades use up for the project. As for a pen holder both VCarve and Aspire can output drawings to a PDF file you could print on a small printer, but the CNC can also print larger full size patterns that may be larger then any cheap printer can handle. 4D
