Love the way maple carves.  Here it's more expensive than oak -  which I use a lot of.  Did you just flood the epoxy and then recarve it?  Haven't opened my epoxy cans yet.

Thanks John..I actually got it at a local mill. My wife found it a said how much. 10 bucks. LOL A bit of milling and I was surprised how well it cleaned up. 

 

For this one. I did the carving 0.12. Sealed it with Shellac. Over filled the Epoxy. I should have poured the black and then the next day pour the red and grays but.... Then surfaced it.

Love how such projects look.   Very curious how well they last.  My experience with epoxies is that over time (a couple decades) they break down/crystalize as the chemical reaction persists even though it is slowed down as the resin hardens.   I'm also curious about expansion/contraction of the wood which might make the inlayed resin pop out or crack.   Just a thought inspired from having lived long enough to see everything I used some 2-part epoxy on eventually fail.
