March 17, 20242 yr Popular Post My neighbor asked me to help him make a black walnut step in front of his electric fireplace. I drove over to Austin Hardwoods and they had a beautiful unit of extra wide 4/4 black walnut in the rough. It was very nice stuff and we found several pieces that were 15 1/2” wide by 12 ft long that were perfectly clear. We milled it yesterday and he put the first coat of finish on. Hopefully install it today. Paul
March 24, 20242 yr Author Popular Post So no good deed goes undone. Now the lady of this house wants a black walnut butcher block counter top to match the step. It’s for a wine cooler next to it. Good thing they are good friends 😎 It’s 25 1/2” wide by 47” long. We glued up the two blanks today and tomorrow we will run them through the planer and then join the two blanks into one countertop. Then we will run them through the new drum sander. Paul
