March 14, 20242 yr Popular Post Was out and about, trying to find a holder for the Dies I had bought....Dies are 3/4" diameter...Lowes? No holder that would fit..but.. Picked 4 boards...1/2" x 6 x24"...maybe a project coming up? I had already been to Menard's....Screen Door hinges, and Thought this might come in handy... Tried the Tractor Supply stores...nada..then went to Harbor Freight....struck out...but, noticed a price reduction.... normally these are around $15.....these were $9.95+ tax.... I still have 2 that I bought 20-30 years ago.. 3/4" and 1"...Compare to the same sizes of the new set.. Handles were bigger, back in the day? Factory grinds? Nice, thick blade..just a bit rough around the edges... Back of the chisel...and.. and the bevel. a slight hollow to this grind, left a lip on the end...we have ways.. Almost time for a new cloth wheel? Last 2 out of six, have been sharpened, backs have been polished up Tested on Pine. The 1/4" chisel has no beveled edges on the sides of the blade..looks more like a 1/4" Mortise Chisel, Hmmm. Instead of Metric...these are in Imperial sizes.. Thinking about doing a Rotation...between these and the Aldi's chisel sets...and see how these will work... Stay tuned...
March 14, 20242 yr I didn't stop at H-F today. Too many other stops; wore me out. For $10 I'd give them a shot too. I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on them.
