March 7, 20242 yr Popular Post I have a request for a black walnut steering wheel for a power boat. They supplied with a steering wheel structure(?) to form it around. Problem is it’s 1/4” out of round. I am approaching it as a segmented ring. I’m attempting to use the Shaper Origin to shape the basic components and create two halves I can glue together. I am creating an mdf mock up to try and get everything to mesh. Paul Edited March 7, 20242 yr by Masonsailor
March 9, 20242 yr Can’t wait to see your final build! How are you going to finish to protect from the water?
March 10, 20242 yr Author Popular Post The finish is not my isssue but I think either a good spar varnish or maybe the ceramic finish. All glued up now and ready for sanding. Paul

March 13, 20242 yr Holy cow Paul! A1 first class work there! I wasn’t sure how it was going to work but you definitely knocked out of the park!
March 14, 20242 yr Author I took it with me to SoCal yesterday to show the boat owner. I went over there to pick up another load of black walnut to finish a project for a friend. He really liked it also. I am going to experiment with several more coats of the ceramic finish to see how glossy I can get it. Paul
