North Bennet Street School (Backyard Shed)

I was perusing Instagram and found this little gem. The students at North Bennet Street School Woodworking Program, build several sheds a year and sell them. Considering the venue that NBSS is, they are all about high quality craftsmanship, joinery, and working with high quality materials, these sheds they are building are absolutely beautiful.

They sell for 6500.00 each, I know I know, you are thinking hey, if I want a shed, I'll build one myself, and anyone here in our woodworking community can. But if you are in the market for a shed/small hobby or crafts dwelling, or guest room, these are drop dead gorgeous!

If you buy one at the big box store, you'll get a smaller unit and it's banged together with nail guns and particle board and other substandard methods and materials at the same price.

If you buy one of these you are supporting these students.

Now granted you should probably live pretty close to the Boston Mass area, as you'll be responsible for pick up and or shipping.

I am very impressed with these sheds, they are a very, very good bargain.

Here is a quote from their page:

Each year, our Preservation Carpentry students build several custom sheds as part of their first-year training. There is one beautiful shed left available for sale!

- 10' x 12' stick framed with a red cedar roof
- Clapboarded front elevation, and other 3 sides are shingled with white cedar
- Custom-built white oak double doors on one gable end
- Three tilt-in, 9 lite windows
- Front door is reclaimed and has custom jamb unit with new hardware and lock with keys
- Cost: $6,500
- Clients are responsible for moving costs, though we have a shed mover available

To purchase, please email sheds@nbss.edu.

So there you have it, another thing, those 9 lite windows? Hand made, yep, that's right, they are handmade by the students with hand tools! The craftsmanship is impeccable.
