He tried to back it passed the blade

 

I was in the can and heard the strange sound of a kickback. Exiting I asked the guy I worked with what he did, he was trying to hide the pain. I told him I knew he had a kickback and asked if he was all right. He had done something similar.

#1…Sometimes you have to stand in the line of fire. 

 

#2… on a  piece that size you shouldn’t need a push stick


#3 .. If it started off the fence at the end to start the twist for the kickback, My bet is the fence it too far toed and pulled off from the blade as the blade was catching the rear of the board…I don’t believe in toeing a fence outward. It can cause problems as much as many feel it needs to be toed to eliminate them
