WorktodoNo.77twins.JPG.2842f7bdf4eeb51623ee3b6a8b9f9a45.JPG

A few things are missing..which is why there is now a sheet of 0.032" Brass in the shop...the "Handle bar wear plate" I might cut out with a scrollsaw...the other 2 missing parts..

Worktodoneedcopiesmade.JPG.18b24e28812a32d77b45242a35267643.JPG

This is the Stanley No.65 SW Gauge...note that brass slide?   it is what the thumbscrews tighten down on...instead of digging into the arm of the gauge..:OldManSmiley:

Might try to build a fancy case for the marking gauges...:ChinScratch:

WorktodoPineparts.JPG.cee07a6a6da6ff67d8910468523d055c.JPG

Resaw this Pine down a bit? :WonderScratch:  Along with that sheet of Brass...

WorktodonewBrass.JPG.0565a4d4d83520f42e793df322d29c29.JPG

I picked a few bags of "parts"

Worktodonewhardwaresupplies.JPG.0f5847aa598d2371a88c60768c8a775c.JPG

Might find some use for these....parts is parts...

Stay tuned  :cowboy:

This wasn't the best day for working in the shop...Vertigo was hitting me hard...but..

Worktodo2cleanedhead.JPG.5aa1caba493f044178b2bdcbd754d001.JPG

The thumbscrew was worn a bit too much...sanded the head down a bit until the bolt would work...might as well clean it all up..

Old arm needed replaced,,,so..

Worktodo2planeanarm.JPG.bd61811518ed0a9ef969432a27124d93.JPG

Cut a blank to length, planes to adjust the fit...took a while..

The old pin? was too corroded to remove..

Worktodo2newpin.JPG.61731df07e32b6816e0ac1652c7f0e08.JPG

I made a new pin..then drilled a small hole ...

Worktodo2installedpin.JPG.73f392192da0714914f41439cd2f715f.JPG

And hammered the new pin in place

Then a coat of Witch's Brew..

Worktodo2coatofWitchsBrew.JPG.42a078cace062fcb3ec6e6c084c2313d.JPG

Looks better than the old one?

As for the brass plate...and the scrollsaw?

The Plan:

Worktodo2theplan.JPG.d77eef1fb007faf8cff77fdbd62dc135.JPG

Trace things out..and use the scroll saw to cut the part out...scrollsaw had other Ideas..

Worktodo2notworkingout.JPG.4a01b5c640d22f125de87c1720524827.JPG

The more I tried, the worst it got..Stopped here for a bit..and cut the plate for the thumbscrew to work on...

Worktodo2fittingaplate.JPG.93532e4f0ce3e6ed1ff5b5afc942a275.JPG

Just a press fit..tabs bent down as keepers...

Plan B...

Worktodo2PlanB.JPG.e87c685f084f8dac766fa29db4075f29.JPG

Simplify things a bit...broke a drill bit, stopped there,,,will get a new bit later...and fine tune this plate...

Worktodo2willdofornow.JPG.1a5eff4d735a597c1e1c52043889ab92.JPG

Will just have to do, for now...

Sometimes Stanley used a couple brass discs, and sometimes a couple brass strips...

letting the Vertigo have it's way...tain't even safe to walk to the Fridge...

Stay tuned..

FWIW, Next time try sticking the brass to a piece of plywood with some double-sided tape. Gives you extra thickness and support. You can even sandwich the brass between a couple thin pieces of ply or solid. Put your pattern on the backer then. Also use the finest tooth count you can get with as little set as possible.

As for that "New & Improved"  Marking gauge....gave it a try-out this evening..

FEBBOXProjectdarkenthelines.JPG.106daacd85ca9344e2f5eb9ebb651f3b.JPG

Had to use the pencil to darken the lines..so both the Camera and I could see the lines.   Gauge stays set, seems to do a decent job.

There was a Bevel Gauge that also needed to be tried out....
