December 30, 20232 yr Popular Post And did NOT want to buy either a 3" Forstner Bit..nor a 3" hole saw..so.. Dug out 2 items...a 10" sweep brace.. Made by Peck, Stow, & Wilcox Co. (PEXTO) with a Samson chuck...about the largest chuck with 2 jaws... And out of a set of 4 Expansive Bits...this is the only one that can go out to 3" diameter... Had a high spot in the top of the bench..decided THAT would a spot for a test drive...so.. Had to crank that chuck almost as far opened as it could go, just to get the bit IN the chuck....this is one BIT bit.. Idea was to test out the snail ( sucks, too beat up, almost had to stand on it for it to bite..) enough that it would leave a "Ring" showing how big a hole it could make.. Just wanted it to score a line.. 3" exactly! As the hole this will drill is to fit the backside of this.. To where I can just push this in place, and NOT have it fall back out. Board for this hole? Currently IN the clamps, until tomorrow...has a few other things to happen first,,,before the hole gets drilled... Pays to have different ways of getting things done?
