It is a fact that the human eye (assuming you are not color blind) can distinguish more shades of green than any other color.  My granddaughter graduated from a high school whose school colors are green and white.  So I am planning to make a shadow box for her metals (two music and one academic).  They are three shades of green (why they didn't use one is beyond me)  Even in the photo it appears one is blue (but it is a shade of green) and the two that are green in the photo don't match as much in real life.  Trying to find a green mat board that worked with all three from a selection of over 100 different boards* was next to impossible.  Looked at various grays and finally decided on just black.  If you are ever trying to get a match on green paint for a touch up, good luck.

In my experience, matching white lacquer was also very difficult.  I have over a dozen "white lacquers" and all have a touch of something else.   It generally took 2 or 3 of them in combination to get a match on a touch up.  And variation in lighting even made it worse.  Shadows, daylight, indirect light, incandescent, CFL, LED, all made a difference.

* In my experience also, about half the colors of mat board are some variant of "white"

Man, the hardest part of this is design.  Right now working on the framing of the diploma and tassel.  And I have a nice frame done  that I'll need to save for a future job, due to re-design by committee.
