October 11, 20232 yr I have been in a number of these libraries. I hope someone will bring this back to its glory days https://www.citybeat.com/cincinnati/the-abandoned-middletown-carnegie-library-is-eerie-beautiful-and-for-sale/Slideshow/16093744/16094026
October 11, 20232 yr Sad to see its gone into that state of decay. Our county had two Carnegie facilities. One in the county seat. A second, satellite in one of our small communities but on a main route. The one in our county seat was replaced several years ago with a much larger, modern facility. The old building was gifted to the county historical society and has been converted to a museum and art gallery. Pretty cool actually. The second remains operational and provides quality services to the northern part of the county. Our township participates so a family Library card can be procured for a minimal fee. Any material available at the main library can be accessed or checked out. The new, main library does provide free cards, renewable annually for any county student through their Senior year of H.S. County residents can access material on-site, but must purchase an annual membership card. However, it's pretty pricey IMO.
October 13, 20232 yr Author Our county seat has a Carnegie Library, as do the towns that two of my children live in. There are also several in the Cincinnati-Hamilton County library system, just to the south. It was inspiring to see what Carnegie did with his wealth.
October 14, 20232 yr I've been hooked lately on Youtube videos of folks buying up abandoned French properties and bringing them back to life. Seems like that Carnegie Library might be a similar worthwhile project for some ambitious Youtuber who likes to record the progress he/she makes while refurbishing it. 4D Edited October 14, 20232 yr by 4DThinker
