September 4, 20232 yr Well…. Had a concept of doing a snack tray with epoxy to where on the bottom would have a design. Here is the Power T of Tennessee. Why? It’s is easy and my number 2 team. CNC’d the bottom to 0.31 in a .75 walnut board. Poured the epoxy yesterday. Tonight sanded and flattened. put in a bowl and tray bit in the CNC. The idea was to hog out to the T and epoxy to where that would be the bottom of the bowl. I made the epoxy translucent enough to show light through it. BUT on the last pass the bit grabbed the epoxy and dug down. lesson….idk know the epoxy was cured enough or because of the bit heat built up and made it soft. So going to just hog out a T and epoxy it to where is it supported by surround wood instead of ‘floating.’ oh well lol.
September 5, 20232 yr Sorry for the outcome Kevin. Thanks for sharing the failure as well as the successes. Lessons learned may help others down the road. 17 hours ago, KevTN said: Here is the Power T of Tennessee. Why? It’s is easy and my number 2 team #1 team Notre Dame now?

September 5, 20232 yr Bummer! Gonna guess part of the problem was the heat. I tried making a combo resin (Alumilite) and wood turning. When sanding, the resin kept getting soft. Ended up using "canned air" held upside down as a coolant. Spray, sand, repeat.
September 6, 20232 yr Author Yeah….kinda scratching my head between bit heat, 3/4 bowl and tray bit, or because of thickness wasn’t fully cured. I kinda kick myself for not letting it cure longer. That canned spray sounds interesting work around.

September 8, 20232 yr Author That is absolutely awesome….what -program did you use? To be honest I’m doing my best not to be pretentious and ask you for a copy of it. Lol you did a great job!
September 9, 20232 yr Yep. Thanks for the Post KevTN. The best thing about failures is that they are where you can learn the most from the experience. Some of the nicest, most unique projects my students made started with a failure of some kind. 4D
