August 22, 20232 yr Popular Post comment_319850 I have seen a few people on YouTube say it is not worth getting a cyclone to add to your dust collection. In my opinion it is well worth it. It was so much easier to get my 3 inch rubber palm sander when it got sucked in the back of the lathe a couple of times. My 55 gallon barrel is half full and the bag on the dust collector bag has less than a cup of dust in it. Very happy I went this route. Report
August 22, 20232 yr comment_319851 I'll second that. The cyclone stage is worth every penny and works like a champ. 6 months of fines in the bag, have emptied the barrel monthly. .40 Report
August 22, 20232 yr comment_319852 I made the Thein Separator for a metal trash can. Can't remember the last time I had to empty the dust collector plastic bag. Report
August 22, 20232 yr comment_319854 I made a Thein separator too. Changed it out for the Super Dust Deputy. Not a lot of difference. The Thein worked well. Report
August 23, 20232 yr Popular Post comment_319889 I made a Thein separator too and it worked well. I used it for several years but it essentially took the same space as another piece of equipment and that always bothered me, mostly because I have too much stuff in my shop. I invested in a Grizzly self contained unit with the cyclone built in. To this point I've been well pleased with it. Edited August 23, 20232 yr by Steve Krumanaker Report
