July 11, 20232 yr Amazon has announced that it's exiting the periodicals subscription biz, in favor of their Kindle Unlimited service. [KU is a subscription service, about $13 per month (?), that allows use of content at no additional charge.] I already have a KU sub, so it was a fun find that KU now includes Wood Mag, something that I subbed for about a decade. I found a half dozen other periodicals (eg, Business Week, scifi, Consumer Reports) also available at no additional charge. Since Amazon stopped taking new subs in June, and will terminate all subs in Sept, what appears to be happening is a migration of periodicals to the KU "corral". The number of available choices doubled between the 3 days of my visits to the list. Other choices might be coming as Sept approacheth. While Wood isn't worth $30 per year (?) anymore, to me, "no charge" is a hard price to beat.
