June 24, 20233 yr For the life of me I can not get the tab in Vectric desktop correct. I have played with length and thickness. Anyone have an idea how I am screwing up…lol board is 0.33 thick. Pocket is 0.15. Small but practice size. Then I am going to donate the little catch all to the Songbird foundation who donates guitars to local high risk students to learn how to play guitar. I contacted one teacher and he said he could use them as rewards/motivation for his students. To any assistance Thank you.
June 25, 20233 yr Your preview looks like you did one profile pass outside the line with tabs, then followed with a profile line ON or INSIDE the vector which cut through the tabs. I'm also not sure you need 6 passes to cut .33" deep with a 1/4" end mill. I normally set pass depth for each bit to equal 1/2 the bit diameter. I might make the passes smaller when the wood is particularly hard, but even at 1/16" per pass it should only take 3 passes. 4D
June 25, 20233 yr Author LOL I did it in three passes. I was just playing around. All the passes were on the line but it was going weird on the last pass. No matter what I tried I could not the tabs to work.
June 25, 20233 yr Try offsetting the line and doing the profile as Outside the line. For shape cutouts get in the habit of cutting outside the line. For hole cutouts use inside the line. I only use ON the line when I'm cutting grooves with a V or ball end bit, or occasionally doing a final vector pass to cut off the waste cleanly when a project only used a small part of a board. I'm using version 10.515 of Aspire and assume you are using their latest VCarve 11.something, which may still have a few bugs that most wouldn't discover using a profile cut ON the line to cut out shapes. 4D
June 27, 20233 yr Author Yes I am using Vectric Desktop 11.501. Ok I will try going on the outside of the line. Thank you for the tip!
