Hello, I have finished this tray I am making as follows:

1. Sanded from 120 in increments up to 1200 grit.

2. Treated the maple pieces with wax and linseed oil combination.

However, I am having the hardest time getting the finish on the epoxy to be shiny and smooth.  I have tried pouring a clear coat of epoxy (that went bad, had air bubbles and had to plane it back off).

Tried using a buffer and fine polish but have had no success.

Any suggestions, especially with two different products, wood and epoxy, and not getting any of the finishing product from one onto the other.

Corrections and change image

I made a couple of hybrid bottle stoppers out of acrylic/wood blanks. I sanded them (wood and acrylic) up thru all the MicroMesh Pads- mine went to 12000. Then used automotive scratch removal cream. That combination left a very nice finish.
