$14 for a wood splitter.

Ahhh well  I liked the format  but I wanted more.

So I took my splitter and made it onto this that will be so much w easier to use Esp with my tractor picking up enough rounds to fill the table

and it works as I expected.

SWISHER  the company did me real dirty.  I am glad I bought this used because had I paid full price I'd have been furious with them.

They designed and purchased Proprietary left-handed spinning hydraulic pumps and ordered a Briggs engine that spins the wrong way - stupid me I didn't check.

Expecting sanity, I ordered a higher flow rate pump to make the cycle time faster.  The engine HP can handle the higher range.

BUT the pump I ordered won't work  Plus if I want to use my new pump I have to gear it as most hydro pumps want direct  drive and don't have the bearings to take the side loading  of a pully system.  Oh  yeah, Swisher uses a pully to drive their pump.

I think they built it this way to force the customer to come back to Swisher for parts.

Which, of course, means that the poor dumb customer PAID Swisher through the nose for that privilege.  Thay didn't provide all that extra very expensive engineering and bespoke components for nothing.

Anyway, aside from saying  DON'T BUY SWISHER  I have a fancy pants vertical splitter that will be a joy to use with my tractor doing all the lifting.

I have virtually zero knowledge of hydraulics and the mechanics involved. But, could you have reversed the motor action with a twisted belt setup?

In theory, yes.  But one would have to make provision for protecting the belt from rubbing against itself.  That'd be a bit of a kludgey rig.  But it doesn't address the problem of hydraulic pumps made for direct drive and  not built to handle the side loading of a belt drive.

You sure got me beat on the engineering. Did you already have the steel?
