For Grandkids to Finish

Featured Replies

Grandkids (5 & 8) went camping and swore they saw a big gator sunning itself on a log.  They are on a mission to visit (not all the same time) every one of North Carolina's 40+ state parks.  Some of them are nothing more than a woods, gravel road in, a lake or river, and lots of bugs. And yes, there is a place called Dismal Swamp somewhere in NC.  So I packed a box with a set for each as well as a bunch of candy and bubble gum for fillers.  Will be interesting to see how (if) they finish them.

Great age for that kind of activity.  We did a similar thing two summers ago.  Our county put out a hiking challenge to local parks, some well known, others pretty remote.  We finished 10 of them with our grandson, then 7, and he has a badge to show for it, plus the memories.  He got very interested in the "haunted" Hyde Hall at Cooperstown lake.  The snacks are a vital item to carry, plus IMO, some protection.  Some of the dangerous critters in these remote areas have two legs.

That is down right super John - both the CNC work and the grandkids getting to visit the state parks in NC, a beautiful state :)

Their dad, my son, has really taken to this fatherhood thing, and does a whole lot of things with them.  Maybe it goes back to when he was growing up and i was gone a lot, being on the road and then starting our own company.  Time together was good, but sporatic.  Whatever it is, we are having a blast watchng him being a real dad.

That is some awesome work John. State parks are the hidden jewels that many do not know much about....ie less people.

Not much work.  I just took one of Scott's designs and tweaked it a little to make these.  But......I'll take all the accolades you want to give me.  Lol

Scott from our old forum.  Great artist and more.  Files are available all over -  from Facebook to Etsy to Vectric's own store.  What software are you using?

Vectric Desktop. I don't do facebook ;) Left that in 2009...Thanks

I have Vectric Aspire.  As I understand it, you cannot make 3d files with Vcarve but can download 3d files and use them.  4D can give you the complete rundown.  Upgrade to Vcarve Pro as the next step and then consider Aspire  (you will be credited for the Vcarve) if you get hooked on this thing.  Don't make it harder than it really is.  More people (me included) buy files and use them to make our own layouts.  They can be stretched, shrunk, distorted, altered, and combined with others.  Your imagination and creativity is the limit.

This is true. I went with Desktop as the largest I can go is 17.5 x 17.5 and desktop is 24x24. Made money sense, and when I do upgrade I like I have credit for it.

Thanks!
