Even if ya got a Miter Saw">SCMS, that device is a lot lighter to lug to the job site.

Given the markdown price I suspect they are discontinuing the rig or have an improved model coming out.

For jobsite work a speed square with a drop down pin to set the angle for angled cuts would be quicker and light to lug around.

I bought this a few weeks ago: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09QFRV91N?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

I use it to set the angle for boards clamped to my vertical/angled clamping jig on my CNC.

Mixed reviews.  I would think it would be easy to make one from some angle iron, but at $20 probably not worth spending a lot of time on.  Then you have to worry about clamps and miter gauge, T-track, etc.   I'll probably just stick with my miter saw and speed square.

that is a great deal for that system! I may just pick one up for just in case, I ever have to go to someones home and do some work. That's a great job site helper if you are not using a Miter Saw: A miter saw is a specialized tool that lets you make cuts at a variety of angles. The saw has a blade mounted on a swing arm that pivots left or right to produce angled cuts. You can use a miter saw to quickly make cuts for crown molding, picture frames, door frames, window casings and more.">CMS. Light and very portable.

Actually, sitting here thinking about it, I may just purchase one for my son n law, he's got minimal tools, on a very tight budget, I do think he does have a cabinet circular saw though. Thanks for the tip Keith!

Low risk investment given the price and the potential gratitude.   Throw in a saw for that rig if he doesn't already have one.

My first table saw ( a craftsman 8" saw) was a gift handed down from my Aunt when her husband (my uncle) who used it passed away.  That was 46ish years ago. Used it for 35 years before

I decided to upgrade to a larger saw.  Passed it over to my brother-inlaw who was retiring and interested in woodworking as a retirement distraction.  This year that saw was gifted to his son-in-law who also had a fledgling interest in woodworking.  No better feeling can be had than that you get when supporting the creativity of the next generation.  JMHO.

I've seen homemade versions of this used for cutting vinyl siding.

We buy all the materials for the theater sets at Menards.  Just did the 4th run Friday and one more for the current production.  I'm the only one with a pickup and trailer so it's my job to do the hauling.  I go with the construction manager who figures out what to buy on each trip.  Sometimes, I think we'd be out in half the time if he didn't want to carry a conversation with all the people working in the store.   Anyway... while we were loading, one of the usual guys from the front end (who obviously now knows us), came out.  We got to talking about the Kreg crosscut station.   He said Menards regularly shops for auctions or liquidation sales, buying discontinued stuff or containers that somehow got lost in the shuffle, for pennies on the dollar.  So now we know why they have 13,000 of these things.  BTW, if you don't have a Menards near you, Ace Hdw is selling them for $60.

Yes, but for $10, it's hardly worth the time (and materials) to build one.  These also have clamps for holddowns, and can cut on angles.

I got one and got it assembled but not used yet.  Discovered my circular saw has a bit of warp in the base.  So I may switch over to my other circular saw.

No, it uses a circular saw (not provided).  The saw rides on the tracks and essentially makes it a miter saw.  But the miters are limited to the last couple of inches of a piece.

Our local Menards showed 22 in stock today. Only saw 2 on the shelf location. Bought them both. I'll give one to my Son-in-law. Still $9.99 with 11% Rebate. Worth $10 just to have on-hand.

Kreg currently shows them on their site, limited time offer for $27.99 IDK if that includes shipping?

When I think of all the ways I’ve spent much more than $10, and late r thought what the^^^&(% was I thinking! Seems like for that number it would be pretty useful.

A front-end guy at Menards (who is a regular as am I), talked to us while loading a bunch of wood and plywood.   He said Menards will often shop auctions for overstocks, recovered containers, once-lost items, etc. and buy them cheap.  Then pass on the savings as specials as they liquidate them.   Originally showed 13,000 of these on inventory at Menards.
