I was  reading a book today, from Fine Woodworking.  It was basically a collection of articles from older issues -- Tage Frid, Ian Kirby, R Bruce Hoadley, Simon Watts -- all classics.  The last chapter was an article from Jim Cummins on making boxes.   I remember this article from the original magazine issue.   What I didn't remember was that for most of the boxes he made in the article, he admitted a mistake he made in its construction, and went on to explain how he fixed it, or would do it differently the next time.

for the truly 'well to do', it's time to value truly hand made items, items made by one craftsman from start to finish, items that only the truly rich and discerning can afford, and how do you know you have such an item?  it has mistakes, flaws, imperfections - all signs that it was made by hand, not some CNC router in Sweden.  take this opportunity to get in on the ground floor of this movement, before the best pieces are gone.

These guys from Mortise and Tenon are about the most grounded down to earth woodworkers you'll ever find, they make a lot of fun of technology and stuff like that. You'd actually like em I think.
