March 21, 20233 yr Popular Post I think this was the first clock I made about 20 year s ago and even though it hangs right beside the sink in the shop I never pay any attention to it for I have an atomic clock thats keeps perfect time and resets inself for daylight savings time so this is the one my eyes always looks at when its about time to eat.. This one is hard to see at a distance. I built a bunch of these and gave them maybe for every ones Christmas or some other time.......? It was in a wood working catalog? but can't remember which one. That one was only 12 inches long or so but I wanted something folks would remember so I enlarged the pattern to be about 48" long. I was gonna ask if anyone wanted the patterns for it but then I spent 2 days looking but still can't find it but I will keep looking. This is an easy project for the scroll saw. smallpatch

March 21, 20233 yr Cool watch Patch. I don't think it would fit my wrist BTW, 7:45...may be past time to eat.
March 21, 20233 yr I've got an atomic clock that could be the center of that watch. Round with hour and minute and second hands. If I made a band for it though my time would then be consumed looking for a wrist that it would fit around. I believe they finally took down the Johnny Kaw statue in the city park so there may no longer be a client for giant watches nearby.

I haven't personally verified that is gone, but remember a story in the local Sunday paper a few years back about the poor condition it was in and plan to remove it rather than fix it up so they could use the area in the park for something else. It had been there since I was a kid 60+ years ago and I doubt anyone currently in charge knew or cared about why it was there. It was intended a road side attraction back when a main route through the state came through our town and it could be seen by anyone passing through. Now the main road is 7 miles south (I-70) and where the statue was is the sleepy part of town. Edited March 21, 20233 yr by 4DThinker
March 21, 20233 yr Just checked Google maps street view. Johnny Kaw still stands there in 2019, which is the last time Google drove down Poyntz Avenue. There is a fence all around him which I don't remember seeing last time I was there. North side of the road in the 1100 block.
