There WAS a brass rod that you would insert from the back, to keep this from folding back up...when not needed, there was a hole on one end to house it, until needed..

The theory is, that you would clamp this to a sawhorse, usually with a couple screws...

While you could use about any backsaw with this,,you can also use a panel saw as well.

 

When done, just fold it back up, and put back into the tool box..
