Really red,  ruby redIt, but only after aging,  it's a pink when fresh cut but it was found in leakey Texas.  It smells when removing bark,  "a weponized pumpkin smell", my son says. Or animal urine, 

But it gets darker and darker.  Starting from the 3:00 clock position. Was a log first cut 2 months ago, going counter clockwise is also first cut, raw no seal. Next at the 10 o'clock,  is a half planed cookie I did  yesterday, its a beautiful pink. Also put a cedar behind it for comparison. It's super dense and  heavy as black heart oak, Or solid walnut. Is really appreciate some help.  Thanks E

Mesquite. 

How embarrassing, I've grown up with misquite, bbq'd with it my whole life but never came across it like this. Thank you the bark matches though. Thanks again!

I have  mesquite trees in my yard and a few cut down for barbecuing meat and it don't look nothing like what we got here around Breckenridge, Tx.  But we might be special with our wood. I would say its more like cedar from around the Lampasas area.  I don't think our mesquite has that much red looking to it  but cedar has both the colors you are showing in your pictures.
