I just now noticed something I built a place for since it was in the way no matter where I put it

When I started building a set of drawers under me table saw extension a light bulb lit up my little brain and told me to make a place so I can store this very wide Incra 3000 ?  miter gauge.

This picture shows a small part of the guage sticking out on top of those drawers I built  back in early 2000.20221203_165633.jpg.d059fb80d1ca050f74d40adfffedfc0e.jpg

I sled it out a little so it could be seen. This set of drawers has the same appearance on the other side. I made the cabinet 30 inches deep  so I can store things I use from the other side. This might save a total of one or two steps for each week but hey the older one gets the lazier de gets. Seems like every square inch of my shops is filled with nonsence but when needed it becomes important...

I welded up some square tubing with swivel wheels to sit all my equipment on and I learned the hard way the steel wheels should have been used to start with.

Thats my lazy susan for the paint shop leaning against the table saw.

I have a similar paddle for my TS but drilled a hole to access the Green on button. I did my drawers a bit larger and put dividers in. It really felt good to get all the TS accessories in one place. As you said steps do begin to count and now with one knee replaced it is more significant.tablesaw.JPG.11bfeb0ab76c79daa4efd9518b39f1e4.JPG

My saw sits in a spot where there are walls on three sides near enough to reach accessories hung on them.  I have the saw blades hung in the rafters above.  That's a detail I question myself about as I get older.  Haven't dropped one yet.

I've got the opposite philosophy about steps. The older and less active I get seems like a bad thing that I can stave off with more steps than should be needed.  Like walking out my front door, around my house to the back basement door to get to the basement shop rooms rather then taking 13 stairs down to get there. Side effect is a little vitamin D from the sun.

You will not say that when you get the knees replaced

So far no one that I know of in my family tree has needed new knees. Parents, uncles, aunts, sibling, grandparents, etc, have all survived so far with their original parts.  I may yet be an exception given early days high jumping and too often lifting/pushing too much that led to sore/inflamed/can't walk down steps without pain/ knees for awhile.  Regular exercise to strengthen the leg muscles and keep them strong has always been the recommended therapy.  I'll see how it turns out and a day before I die I'll find this thread and report back how my knees did. ;)
