I use a 3 x 3' and also a 4 x 4' pieces of plywood sitting on top of a lazy susan plus I use news papers laying above and to the right of the turn table.

  The turn table lets my keep the over spray towards the exhaust.. probably 40 years or so doing it this way and maybe more and every once in a while I spray outside if the weather is cooperating.

 

This lets my spray each piece from 4 different directions for the first coat
