January 16, 20233 yr Popular Post We got bunch of estate junk tools donated to the furniture bank. This morning while we were there we sorted thru it. Some was pretty old stuff (Craftsman and Skil corded drills) some was relatively new (Dremel tools). One of them was something I had never seen before, in original box with instructions and accessories It was a Wen All Saw and the box proclaimed "The only saw you will ever need." It looked a lot like an older sidewinder circular saw -- roughly 6" square base, large motor off to the side, edge guides, but it used a jig saw blade. Maybe a '50s vintage. Apparently takes up to 6" blades with proprietary hook up connection. Sears must have never sold them or the 6 amp would be listed as 3 HP. Hmmm. I think I'll stick with the saws that I have. https://www.ebay.com/itm/174722140697
January 17, 20233 yr Popular Post Got one just like it I bought at a yard sale or flea market some time ago. Know I gave less than $5 for it but its just the saw. Still works, just needs cleaned up. Very heavy saw. Yours looks to be one of the later ones made based on the cord strain relief and looks like switch trigger is "plastic." I remember seeing those advertised in Popular Mechanics and other magazines. Kind of a cross between a Sabre saw and reciprocating saw
January 17, 20233 yr Popular Post Man! That is just the ticket. Wish I could get my hands on one. NOT..
January 17, 20233 yr Probably a late 1950's early 1960's model. Found an undated manual for the saw. http://www.vintagemachinery.org/pubs/2143/24428.pdf And an add for the Wen Model 910 Belt Sander dated October 1961. http://www.vintagemachinery.org/pubs/2143/3766.pdf
January 19, 20233 yr Never enjoyed using jigsaws, although the variety of blades available for them suggest they could be a useful tool. I'm a bit amazed that WEN was around for so long as I feel like their tool offerings are more of a current trend.
