Popular Post aaronc Posted January 10, 2023 Popular Post Report Posted January 10, 2023 (edited) I love my big Dewalt miter saw...BUT...I'm gonna get me something set up inside in my shop that I can use for my smaller projects so I don't have to drag the beast out and plug in etc...There are a few still being made...but I think I'm going vintage. I could easily make the box and just add saw(s)...but looking at getting something like this set up. Just a cut through type wood miter box and hand saw. John Morris Posted January 10, 2023 Report Posted January 10, 2023 Hey Aaron, do you mean to purchase an old vintage box and saw? Or are you making your own box? steven newman, Grandpadave52, HARO50 and 1 other 4 Quote

It's been on my mind for a little while to build a small inventory of hand saws so I can piddle inside....and my post was pretty much me thinking out loud Artie, Cal, steven newman and 2 others 5 Quote

Nosir,..but I'm not above buying vintage and doing the rehab if needed. Not sure if that counts as building...I mean I could refinish the handle or something Cal, Artie, Grandpadave52 and 4 others 5 2 Quote
Popular Post John Morris Posted January 10, 2023 Popular Post Report Posted January 10, 2023 Got it Aaron, I confused myself in the last question. Well you sure embarked on a very addictive thing that many crafts folks start up and can't stop, be careful! Collecting those handsaws for restoration is like crack! Not that'd I'd know what crack feels like. Keep us informed on your progress, I am sure whatever you do with this is going to be absolutely terrific, might even see a few etchings on those ol saws eh? aaronc, HARO50, Gerald and 4 others 1 6 Quote

Popular Post aaronc Posted January 10, 2023 Author Popular Post Report Posted January 10, 2023 Apparently those OL' Stanley's were the cat daddys and why they still bring decent money. Not really what I'm after at the moment but a nice one in working order is a beaut. The vid is longer than you'd wanna watch but it's in nice condition. Popular Post Grandpadave52 Posted January 10, 2023 Popular Post Report Posted January 10, 2023 If you're not in a big hurry Aaron, peruse area flea markets. Of course this time of year you're limited to only indoors but a start. Yard, garage and estate sales are good sources. Whatever saw(s) you're able to score most likely will need sharpened. Another skill to aquire. Good luck and keep the thread updated. Artie, steven newman, aaronc and 2 others 5 Quote

Popular Post frenchwwr Posted January 13, 2023 Popular Post Report Posted January 13, 2023 An old friend gifted me a Size 2 1/2 No. 74 MF Langdon MB from the early 1900s with a 26" Disston saw from the same period. My father gave me a Wood Picture Frame Miter Cutter Slicer Trimmer Tool and the two pieces work so sweet together. I can throw down a painter's tarp, and set them up on a pair of Workmates in the room I'm working in and bang out molding without any mess. I had to do a google to figure out what the Wood Picture Frame Miter Cutter Slicer Trimmer Tool was called, turns out it's a 'Wood Picture Frame Miter Cutter Slicer Trimmer Tool' and Walmart has them for $546.88 with free shipping. I've known the value of having this tool and now I know the value of the tool. I'm going to need a better place to store it. aaronc, Cal, steven newman and 2 others 3 2 Quote
