Back in the office tomorrow.  668 days to retirement.  Taking it easy today and getting a couple of chores done.

It’s Monday, funday!!!

Got some chores to do this morning and then it’s time to start on a bench for the front entryway.

Damp, dreary, extremely foggy day outside. Quiet day for some R&R. Mrs. is home today too. Maybe a football game or two? Currently watching an episode of the Woodsmith Shop. Finally a reasonably quiet week ahead. Hopefully will get my haircut after being rescheduled a couple times.

Shop remains closed until 1st day of spring which likely will be early June assuming we get our average weather pattern. Of course the exception year came when I was laid up from back surgery. Spring arrived early that year so I could watch it from my hospital room. IIRC, the Robins sat on the window ledge inviting me to come out to play. Of course I was on a lot of pain meds so that recollection may be somewhat skewed.

Were those the ones in all colours of the rainbow, with big horns and playing accordions? :Laughing:

Umm no...you must have a different species of pain meds, 'er Robins across the border. However I'd be interested in learning more about a prescription,  'er subscription source.:ph34r:

We had an 11' rubber like transition strip between the kitchen tile and the wood dining room floor. It was always coming loose and was a tripping hazard, so I built a 3" wide, 1/2" thick strip of pine and used LOCTITE PL MAX adhesive to glue it down. Now, we're about to have a new living room/dining room floor installed. I'm now taking up that wooden strip. That LOCTITE stuff is phenomenally tough! Turns out it's impervious to any chemical and must be "mechanically" removed. After taking up the strip in pieces shards, and splinters, I'm using hammer and chisels to remove the adhesive off the tile. The old wood floor as going to be trashed anyway. Not worried about it. Got down to the smaller bits stubbornly sticking to the tile and resorted to a 3M Scotch-Brite Clean and Strip spindle mounted disc, chucked in my trusty old PC drill. Even that is having a tough go. But, just a couple more gobs and it's done!

:huh: So much for a nap, Uncle Charles :ArguingSmileys:decided to pay one heck of a visit. <_<

:ChinScratch: Wonder if spending about 6 hrs. at the "Boneyard" in mid 30° temps might have had anything to do with that? :WonderScratch:

I haven't actually SEEN them, but a co-worker who kept disappearing for five minutes every half-hour or so claims they were just outside the big roll-up door at the back of the factory. :WonderScratch:

went to engrave a lazy susan for an upcoming wedding only to have it slip from the 5 clamps and ruin that part. oh-well cut that side off and glue on new stock. it's now engraved and filled waiting for the epoxy to cure.
before and after that challenge I glued up and cut out 14 other lazy susans as part of my "get rid of the short stock" campaign this month. next up is prepping, gluing, and clamping, all the 2" long scraps for making chaotic style end grain boards.

Maybe it wasnt Robins. It may have been a Toucan; VOE.:rolleyes:

Several years ago I was laid up at home recovering from viral pneumonia after spending a day in the hospital. They gave me two types of pain medication. I took one every 4 hours, the other every 8 hours. Between the two, I slept almost non-stop. During one of those deep "sleep" states, I had a very realistic vision of an interaction with a rainbow colored toucan perched in the maple tree outside the window. He spoke English quite fluently too. For the record, I haven't eaten any Fruit Loops since.

:throbbinghead::ROFL:

I suffered severe pains from sciatica for a long time. A friend was going through a hip replacement, and was on VERY strong pain meds.  He left me 4 pills, with instructions to take a blue one first, and if that wasn't enough, take one of the red ones. I didn't want to take anyone else's meds, but at one point the pain was so bad that I took one. The pain subsided, and I managed to fall asleep, but shortly after I was floating around the ceiling, looking down on myself sleeping on the bed! :BugEyeSmiley: The next morning, the rest of the pills were flushed, and I will NEVER take anything stronger than Tylenol. :WhoMe:

:WonderScratch::WonderScratch: IDK, that toucan was a pretty slick talker. Maybe it was Lucky Charms?? Although I've never conversed with a Leprechaun that I recall. :ChinScratch:

You likely couldn't understand them anyway. Ours only speak Gaelic. But, after a few shots of Jamisons, I can converse fluently with them.;)

I always have stuff going through my mind. Take a nap, regroup and figure it out. I used to keep a small piece of furniture around just to spark the flames when I get bored.
