daughter #3 asked me if i could build one, sent me a picture, the one she sent me is a arts and craftsman style, but a mission or early american, as long as its shaped in a sorta pyramid, you all know, kinda fancy, but simple, lol is there such a thing,

anyways looking for plans or a direction to some, i could probably reverse engineer some from a picture, but being an ole lazy guy, thinking someone has already done that and well maybe i'd benefit from it.

Both examples are beautiful. QSWO is gorgeous wood.

yes on the white oak, gonna generate a mat;l list and plan on making this happen, goal is two units, but first need to clear out some space in shop on work tables, so a gaggle of game boards and other stuff needs to be completed. just finding decent qswo is a bear, woodworkers source has it, but ;;;gulp;; i choke on their prices.

Hey Ric, if qswo is skyhigh in price, it may be worth looking into Cherry or Walnut plainsawn, or even poplar and stain it, Greene and Greene also Stickley used those species quite often so you wouldn't be breaking with tradition.

Just a few lessons I learned from helping students make furniture for the last 4 decades:

1. Any angle other than 90 degrees between shelves and sides triples the complexity of making the design.

2. 13" on center, shelf to shelf is a good dimension for book cases.  10 deep is plenty.

3. Leaving a couple of the shelves so their height can be changed for odd sized books/things adds smiles to whoever ends up with the design. Hard to do when each shelf is a different length.  :(

4. Any project built by a father for a daughter, or a daughter for a father (I've seen many of theses) will be loved unconditionally.

Bob Lang wrote this book and I believe it has what you may be interested in.   I was loaned a copy of the book a few years back.  Sorry, I returned the book.  Danl

Bob was very into Arts & Crafts furniture.  He's the Editor at American Period Furniture the annual journal of SAPFM now.  He still lives here in Cincinnati, but came from Kent, OH, about half an hour from where I grew up and where my sister and one daughter went to college.
