December 17, 20223 yr Popular Post I’ve gotten sidetracked on the poker table. I needed 12” hand screw clamps, but I’m not going to go out and buy 20+ of these. I think I’m going to make more cam clamps till I get enough hand screw clamps. I’ve made 6” with a 4 5/8 reach, these will be 8” with a 6 5/8 depth reach. Already have the roll pins. I found enough scrap walnut to make 100… Edited December 17, 20223 yr by BillyJack

December 18, 20223 yr Author I started to make these years ago. I had a bunch of 8/4 ash and chopped it up into 1”x1 1/4 x6”long pieces . I cut enough for 100 clamps. Made a sample and later when cleaning out the shop I threw the parts away. I used these in the 90’s whilecworkingbatvAlconcabinets making counter tops. I liked them , but after I left inklings forgot about them. Later I decided I wanted them , but at $20 each, you have to have a strong need ad I wasn’t doing counter tops anymore. During the+poker table build I thought , wouldn’t it be nice to have some cam clamps. I just need a long reach. My originals are 6” and have a max reach of 4 5/8 and the new ones will be 8” with a reach of 6 5/8..I checked YouTube one night on TV and found someone had made some from MDF. I have some 1” scraps of this laying around as well. I'll make three clamps. Hickory, walnut and MDF.. My original clamp.. Edited December 18, 20223 yr by BillyJack
December 19, 20223 yr Author Popular Post I had a lot of 1 1/16 walnut left from the poker table that I didn’t to use, but thought they would be great for the cam clamps. So that didn’t go to waste. I wanted enough to make around 100. These aren’t hard to make , but have a lot of processes that take time to set up. Might as well do enough to get rid of the itch, As mentioned before. “ Its not how many clamps you have, but the variety”.. Yesterday I ran parts on the saw and planed to 1”x1 1/4”x8”… Edited December 19, 20223 yr by BillyJack
December 20, 20223 yr Author I made a jig for the table saw for the slot for the 1/8 aluminum. I had to catch myself as I was running the wood in the wrong direction. So I had to fix a few.
December 21, 20223 yr Author Popular Post I set up the dafos for s 1/4 groove for the pressure lever..
December 22, 20223 yr Author Popular Post I ran left over scrap from the body of the cam clamps for the 1/4 lever. Marked them out, cut them at the band saw and finished sanding a5 the edge sander. There's 50+. I'm tired and will do the rest tomorrow.. Edited December 22, 20223 yr by BillyJack
December 23, 20223 yr Thanks BJ for the build along and all the pictures. Very energetic and inspiring build. I fell behind on this thread but will follow closely to project completion. I understand even more so why you want a custom brand now. Deserves a maker's mark.
December 25, 20223 yr Author Pretty boring process. A lot of back and forth. Worth the prize when done.
