These go pretty cheap. What do you think it’s worth..

= 1 1/8HP = 6" Depth Of Cut = 2 Speeds = Built In Work Light = Working Condition

High bid $16

Better jump on it before it slips away! :)

It's  probably worth $17, at least.

I might go as high as $20 but wouldn't.  If I was fishing and caught it, I'd throw it back.

Are they that bad?

I wouldn't say they are bad, just not suitable for my purposes.  I owned a larger Craftsman bandsaw years ago.  I really disliked the block style guides.  That's just my perception.  I'm picky about little things like that.

I think you (I know I would) might be happier with a model that has bearings instead of blocks since they are so much easier to adjust and use.  Carter products might have replacement bearing style guide blocks available for that model but I don't know for sure.  It might be worthwhile to check on that while your dollars are still safe in your wallet.

I used a Craftsman 14" bandsaw for a few years for cutting bandsaw boxes. Worked fine.  Not sure what that model is capable of..

Someone donated an Crapsman band saw to the woodworking club a few years ago.  One of the wheels had a bit of wobble in it.  Upon opening up and having at look it had a pot metal cast bushing on its axle.  SMH, really?  We threw it away.

I’ve got a Powermatic 44. They just go so cheap, trying to figure something I could use it for..

I have a 12" (80") Craftsman which has served me well for most things. Biggest limit is the 6" rip capacity. The one you're showing BJ has the tilting head versus table. Around here on CL, FB Market place and even yard sales typical asking price is $75-$150. Me personally, the tilting head feature was a flop for Sears. Difficult to adjust and hard to maintain. Just my opinion. I've walked away from several.

Saw one today and it has a 1/2 HP motor. I cannot see it even cutting a 2x4.

With that nice big flat table I expect it would make for a good catch all surface. :D

With Sears all but gone, might be hard to locate replacement parts.

I used one like that for years, purchased it in ~ 1994.  I sold it 3 yrs ago for $125 + extra blades.  Wood magazine give it great reviews in its days.  It was good for cutting curves and straight lines, but struggled resawing.  I liked the feature where the head tiltes instead of the table.  The table is large and sits at lower height that newer saws.  I liked the lower height because I could sit on a stool while sawing.  The table is AL not steel.  The base of the saw made for a large footprint.  The work light is a great feature.  I would think the saw may sell for $100.

It's 5 minutes from  me here in town at Oldham Auctions. If it goes cheap I'll pick it up... the Powermatic 44 is no jewel...No upgrades..

If it's Sears HP, it probably says 6.5 peak HP

I had one that a guy gave to me and i was really excited.  Then after using it, I knew why he gave it away.  I could never get it to cut good.  I spent more time messing with the thing and trying to straighten it out, than I did cutting anything.  Finally,  I got so fed up with it, I loaded it up and hauled it to the dump.  I ran into another guy there and asked if he could take it.  I said "be my guest, and good luck!"   I ran into that guy about a month later and he said he should have left it at the dump!  It ended up back there anyway!
