The home workshop has many functions, but it can be sad when the pure fun activities are overshadowed by routine maintenance chores or by the economics of doing it yourself versus professional help. Everything you do in a home workshop is therapy as long as it remains enjoyable, but you actually have to make a real change of pace occasionally, and "fun" projects are one way to do it.

I loved Workbench Magazine. I was a long-term subscriber until it's demise.

I never had them Gramps, but the old ones I am going through sure seemed wonderful.

Workbench was the first WW'ing magazine I subscribed, then the old original Woodsmith.

some of my most valuable wood working information came from an ole boy who was about 20 years my senior gave me a pile of mags. wood smith, fine wood working glossy magazines so much information, and details, and fun things to make.

thanks for the memories Boyd

Looong ago, I bought the very first issue of Fine Woodworking at a news stand, then subscribed. Also subscribed to Wood, Pop Wood and Woodsmith. IDK how many issues of those mags ended up on our book case shelves. But, a bunch. We moved several times and we carted them with us each time. IIRC, they filled at least five of those old wire milk bottle crates. Our move to the mountains was the final trip for those crates. I found a new woodworker and unloaded all of them to him. He was happy as a clam. His wife...not so much. Phyl wasn't unhappy to be rid of them, though.
